Coronavirus comic

Here is a link to my Storyboard Task
in this comic I tried to create a fantasy character (the crononavirus) and have a bit of fun but also have a moral to the story which I think all comics need
the comic is about a group of boys all touching something without washing their hands and they go on to spread the virus which becomes a massive monster and begin destroying the city.
but then comes along a hero  (hand sanitiser gun in hand) and simply squirts the monster and he dies
this show that all you need to do to stop the virus is wash you hand and isolate.

  1. This is a really cool comic strip Charlie. I love the idea of "CoronaNO"! Before publishing work remember to check for capitals at the start of sentences. Great message in your comic.

  2. Kia ora Charlie,
I am a facilitator for Maniaiakalani Outreach in Christchurch. Wow! This is an amazing comic you have created. I love the idea of a hand sanitiser gun, that would be handy to have. I also like how you have thought about the moral of the story - in this case boys washing hands - very clever!
How often do you create comics for your work? Is it one of your favourite ways to share?
I am sure you will inspire others to create comics too!

  3. Hi Charlie
I am a teacher in Christchurch at Wigram Primary School. This is an amazing way of sharing the importance of washing hands and using sanitiser - especially at the moment. Keep it up (and make sure you wash your hands!)

  4. Kia ora Charlie, I agree with you, a moral is a must. Varying the frames and including some without also adds lots of visual interest as I was reading. This is an important message that you have cleverly communicated.

  5. Kia ora Charlie. I'm a facilitator with the Ako Hiko cluster in Auckland. I love the shading in your comic and I'm impressed with your diminishing perspective (the picture with the street). Do you have any top tips for other people who want to have a go at making comics? Maybe you could do some video tutorials?

  6. Hi Charlie, I'm a teacher at South Hornby School which is in Christchurch.
I LOVED reading your comic, it's very creative and spreads a good message (instead of the virus)! I really like your representation of the virus and how it changes throughout the comic. I think your moral of your comic is that it's really important to wash your hands (to stop the spread)- well done.
Have you made any comics before? There are lots of digital platforms that you can use to create comics too. Was this a learning task that you had to do, or was it something that you thought of yourself?

    1. Hi Cara, I'm glad you liked it.
It is the first comic I've ever done, you are right there are a lot of digital platforms for comics and art but I much prefer to use good old pen and paper.
